1/5/2024 0 Comments Untitled goose game switchFlapping is only relevant to maybe one objective, but others are frequently necessary either to steal or distract. Controls are simple: you can grab, honk, flap and run. Even the animations are endearing, particularly in the way the goose waddles, honks and flaps its wings (my favourite thing to do was piss someone off, extend my wings and honk to safety in a way that would make Zoidburg proud). ![]() ![]() Visually, the game really pops with its pretty, colourful art style. The game is clearly geared more towards an accessible, jump-in-and-cackle-at-some-schadenfreude kind of moments. Untitled Goose Game on the other hand is lighter on this, which is for better or worse depending on what you’re looking to get out of it. Whereas something like Hitman also gives the player a sandbox to play with objects and gives variable tasks to complete, it also allows the player to take their own approach to a situation. Once your objectives are done, it’s time to move on to a new area in the village until everyone is suitably pissed off and erects a comically large ‘no geese’ sign.Ī couple of small issues stem from this checklist approach: firstly, you begin to see the limitations in how to complete your tasks and secondly, the game ends up being quite short (around 2 hours). From here on, there’s no room for being a good egg.Īs the goose, your job is to cross off a laundry list of hijinks the game gives you, such as having a picnic by stealing the poor groundskeeper’s garden vegetables or chasing a terrified kid into a phone booth while honking like an absolute mad c***. Starting out, the goose wanders into a small European-looking village filled with innocent people just going about their day – the groundskeeper doing some gardening a shopkeeper maintaining her inventory a man casually sipping his tea while reading the paper. The premise is simple: give everyone a bad time. It speaks one of our darker desires: to be an absolute dick to everyone. When Untitled Goose Game was announced two years ago, the trailer went viral with its slapstick, cartoonish gameplay elements really standing out as something to take notice of. Sometimes it takes an almost Rube Goldberg set of circumstances to fall into place to get exactly what you need, but those times when it all comes together, you can't help but feel a bit of pride in your villainous machinations.Disclaimer: This game was personally purchased for review.īeing a horrible goose is about as fun as you might expect. Completing each task requires a bit of forethought and skill, planning ways to catch the humans off guard and then executing that plan to perfection. ![]() Each day starts you off with a To-Do list of trouble to cause and items to recover. While it's easy (and fun) to just run around town haphazardly causing chaos and leaving a swath of irritable townsfolk in your path, there truly is a method to the madness. These are people just trying to live their lives and go about their daily routines … until you come along to muck it all up. Smooth and fluid animations add an extra level to the game's realism, with characters acting like you would expect actual people to do. The art style won't tax anyone's hardware, as it's a relatively basic presentation that comes across almost like a minimalist painting brought to life. What's most surprising about the game is that its beauty lies in its simplicity. That's something the folks behind Untitled Goose Game understand, giving players a chance to relish in the mayhem of terrorizing a village full of people with little more than a bit of stealth, a bit of cunning, and an excess of honking. Admittedly, some days it's just plain fun to be the bad guy.
